Grant Description
Grants of up to $75,000 to USA researchers affiliated with universities and organizations for research related to agriculture. Funding is intended to enhance the legume industry. Priority will be given to research projects addressing one or more of the following areas of focus: breeding and variety trials and genetics, nutrition and health benefits, crop management and sustainability, and product development.

The USA Dry Pea & Lentil Council Research Committee’s goal is to increase the body of pulse crop research to ensure support for increased demand and consumption of pulse crops both internationally and domestically. The Committee aims to support the development of productive, high quality, and nutritious pulses as well as new technologies to increase the profitability and marketability of USA grown pulses.

The USA Dry Pea and Lentil Council (USADPLC) requests research proposals investigating pulse crops (dry peas, lentils, and chickpeas) for the 2024-25 fiscal year. Plans of work will be accepted for research pertaining to the following topics:

Research Strategic Plan and Industry Priorities:

  1. Breeding and Variety Trials and Genetics
  2. Nutrition and Health Benefits
  3. Crop Management and Sustainability
