Virginia G. Piper Charitable Trust
Fellowships to Maricopa County, Arizona individuals in leadership positions at local nonprofit organizations to take a sabbatical for professional development. The fellow’s organization may operate in the areas of education, health, human services, religion, or arts and culture.
The Piper Fellows program acknowledges the never-ceasing demands of nonprofit leadership and offers opportunities for nonprofit leaders to reach, retool, and revitalize.
Piper Trust offers up to six fellowship awards to support professional development for outstanding leaders of 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations serving Maricopa County.
A Piper Fellow’s sabbatical allows work release time and can be taken all at once or divided into several smaller projects or programs. Fellow candidates are encouraged to explore educational and professional programs and visit model program sites and leaders across the nation.

The Trust provides up to six fellowships annually.
A Piper Fellowship offers the potential for a $90,000 Piper Trust commitment to a Fellow’s organization.
Piper Trust offers up to fellowship awards of $30,000 (maximum) annually to support professional development for outstanding leaders of 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations serving Maricopa County.
A Piper Fellowship also includes a $10,000 grant award for staff and board development and makes the Fellow’s organization eligible for a grant up to $50,000 for a Piper Fellows Organizational Enhancement Award during the sabbatical or within six months of completion.
