Grants to Arizona nonprofit organizations for projects and programs to benefit eligible communities. Funding is intended for activities in the areas of education, historic preservation, arts, culture, humanities, and the environment. Projects and programs should benefit Bisbee.

Project Grant funds are available to nonprofit organizations for projects or programs that fall within the purview of The Bisbee Foundation.

The Bisbee Foundation Focus Areas: 

  • Culture, Arts and Humanities, Education, Literacy and Historic Preservation
  • Grants and scholarships
  • Evergreen Cemetery
  • Environmental improvement projects

Term of Contract:

Funds must be used within 60 days of receipt of the check and before December 31.

Additional Eligibility Criteria:

In order to be eligible for this grant, a nonprofit organization must have status as a nonprofit corporation in the State of Arizona and tax-exempt status from the Internal Revenue Service with at least a two-year programming history.

If an organization does not have nonprofit status it may use a fiscal receiver (umbrella sponsorship) contingent on:
- Approval of the governing board of the umbrella organization
- A written contract executed between the applicant and the umbrella organization
- Umbrella organization being fully responsible for all financial commitments related to the application

The following do not qualify for Project Grant funding:
- Organizations receiving more than 50% of their annual budget from a public tax-supported source
- Divisions or departments of government, including colleges, universities, and school districts
- Political and/or religious organizations and committees
- Private for-profit corporations/organizations

Project Grants are not awarded for the following:
- Travel outside Arizona
- Debt retirement, capital improvements, or purchase of real estate
- Tuition costs or refreshment costs
- Salaries beyond the duration of the project
- The establishment or augmentation of endowment funds

If the project is a cooperative activity between two or more organizations, the proposal must include letters from the authorized representative of the agencies along with copies of any agreements or letter of understanding between them.

Pre-Application Information:

The 2021 grant cycle opens February 1 and deadline for applications is April 1, 2021.

Grant funds will be distributed approximately 45 days following approval by the Bisbee Foundation board.

At the board’s discretion, grants may not total more than 20% of the budget of the organization and must be matched dollar for dollar with non-public monies and/or in-kind services. The in-kind services must be approved by the Board of The Bisbee Foundation.
