Opportunity for USA, Canada, and International nonprofit organizations to participate in a fundraising program. Organizations will receive training and participate in a fundraising campaign. Opportunities are also available for organizations to win bonus prizes or matching funds.

The GlobalGiving Accelerator is an opportunity for organizations to build skills, access tools, and grow their base of supporters to achieve crowdfunding success. Graduating organizations becomes a permanent member of GlobalGiving, and will have access to all the tools, training, and one-on-one support available in the GlobalGiving community.

The GlobalGiving Accelerator is a virtual training program and crowdfunding campaign that will help take organizations' fundraising to the next level. Following an optional one-week training curriculum, participants will be entered into an Accelerator campaign to raise at least $5,000 total from a minimum of 40 different donors in order to graduate and secure a permanent fundraising spot on the GlobalGiving platform.

GlobalGiving will support participants as they reach out to their own networks, and tell their story in new and compelling ways. Donors can give in USD or GBP, helping organizations reach supporters in the US, the UK, and beyond. GlobalGiving will also provide matching incentives for donors, and bonus prizes for the most successful participants.

Training topics include:

  • Crowdfunding 101;
  • Mapping your potential donor network;
  • Storytelling and email appeals; and
  • Creating SMART goals.

Organizations that successfully complete the GlobalGiving Accelerator will earn:

  • GlobalGiving press release - Inclusion in a GlobalGiving press release announcing the Accelerator graduates 
  • GlobalGiving Media Kit- A custom media kit to help promote their accomplishment
  • GlobalGiving certificate of completion- A certificate of completion from GlobalGiving
  • GlobalGiving's donor newsletter and social media- Additional promotional opportunities, including through GlobalGiving's social media or homepage, for top-performers

Estimated Size of Grant:

GlobalGiving provides several opportunities for organizations to win Bonus prizes or matching funds during the Accelerator crowdfunding campaign.
- Bonus Day: During the Accelerator, GlobalGiving will have one Bonus Day during which GlobalGiving will match online donations up to $1,000.
- Most Funds Raised Prizes: At the conclusion of the Accelerator campaign, the project with the most funds raised during the campaign will receive $3,000. The organization that raises the second highest amount will receive $2,000 and the organization with the third highest amount will receive $1,000.
- Most Unique Donors Prize: At the conclusion of the Accelerator, the project with the most unique donors during the campaign will receive an exclusive reward.

Additional Eligibility Criteria:

GlobalGiving accepts applications from registered nonprofit organizations around the world. Organizations must be able to show a track record of project implementation. Organizations must pass through GlobalGiving's due diligence process.

Pre-proposal Conference:

There is a free, virtual training program February 14-27, 2020.

2020 March Accelerator Important Dates and Deadlines
- Jan. 24, 2020: Please submit a fully completed application. If the application is incomplete, applicants may be ineligible to participate in the March 2020 Accelerator.
- Feb. 14, 2020: Applicants will be notified of their application status
- Feb. 14 - 27, 2020: Free, virtual training program
- Feb. 28, 2020: Project submission deadline
- March 9, 2020: Accelerator crowdfunding campaign begins
- March 25, 2020: Accelerator crowdfunding campaign ends

If the application is received before the submission deadline, applicants will be notified at least two weeks prior to the start of the next Accelerator. Since GlobalGiving reviews applications on a rolling basis, it is possible to hear back before that time.

To join GlobalGiving:
The Accelerator is the first step to joining GlobalGiving’s community of nonprofit partners. The onboarding program involves a free, week-long virtual training program, submitting a project, and a fundraising campaign. Listed below is a brief overview of the process, please refer to the “Application Requirements” section for all application-specific questions.
- Submit a completed online application. GlobalGiving's team will review it and notify applicants of our decision. If the application is approved, applicants will be eligible to participate in the Accelerator.
- The next step is to submit a project for the Accelerator. Applicants' project page is what is visible to donors on the GlobalGiving website.
Once the Accelerator campaign begins, the goal is to raise $5,000 from 40 unique donors. If the participant is successful, will graduate from the Accelerator and are eligible for permanent partnership on GlobalGiving.
